Dental Implants at 82 Dental

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots made of titanium posts, they are permanent and offer the advantage of single or individual tooth replacement over a full set of dentures. The implant is inserted into the jawbone and capped with a crown or a bridge to replace missing teeth, and they are made to match your natural tooth color and your bite.

Dental Implants

Two-step Process

The dental implant procedure involves two main stages: the dental implant insertion and the dental implant restoration.

Stage 1: Implant Insertion

The surgical procedure involves the placement of a titanium “root” into your jawbone. Local anesthesia will be administered to the targeted area.

You should not feel any pain during this surgery. The titanium “root” is embedded into the jawbone using a precise surgical method. Once the implant is positioned, we will seal the gum tissue over the implanted root. The surgical portion of the procedure is now complete.

Post-implant insertion, you’ll require time for healing. As your soft tissue mends, the implanted “root” will fuse with your jawbone.

You can expect the healing process of the soft tissue to extend up to several months. Your healing speed is dependent on a variety of factors. The soft tissue must be completely healed before we can move forward with the implant restoration.

Stage 2: Implant Restoration

The restoration phase of the procedure happens after your healing from the implant insertion surgery is complete.  This stage includes attaching a dental crown or a bridge to the implants to replace your missing teeth.  This part of the procedure not only restores the functionality of your teeth but also enhances the aesthetics of your smile.

The restoration of the implant is the subsequent phase of the dental implant procedure, wherein an artificial tooth (a crown or bridge) is fabricated and affixed to the implanted tooth root. This phase can only commence once the soft tissue surrounding the implant has fully healed.

What Should I Anticipate During The Restoration Process?

Once your dentist has confirmed that you’ve sufficiently healed after the artificial tooth root implant surgery, we’ll proceed to the restoration stage of the dental implant.

The Abutment: A diminutive metal post known as an abutment is inserted directly into the dental implant. This will serve as a connector to your crown or bridge. After positioning it, we’ll take a mold of your teeth that will aid in creating your tailor-made crown or bridge.

Temporary Crown or Bridge: A temporary crown or bridge will be fixed to the abutment while your custom-made crown is being prepared.

Once your custom-made crown is ready, a brief appointment will be needed to fix it onto your abutment and ensure that it blends seamlessly into your smile.
